Recently, Tesla announced its second quarter earnings, with total revenue of $28.236 billion in the second quarter, up 26% year-on-year; net profit attributable to common shareholders of $1.114 billion, down 5% year-on-year; gross profit of $4.76 billion, up 22.72% year-on-year; gross profit margin of 16.8%, down 0.40 percentage points year-on-year; and total revenue of automotive business of $20.516 billion, up 23% year-on-year. In the second quarter, Tesla's total vehicle deliveries reached 480,126 units, an increase of 25% year-on-year, of which the Americas, Asia-Pacific and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets increased by 60%, 27% and 12% month-on-month, respectively; of which, Model 3 and Model Y delivered a total of 467,762 units, an increase of 25% year-on-year; other models delivered 12,364 units, an increase of 19% year-on-year. Shanghai Gigafactory delivered more than 89,000 electric vehicles in June, an increase of 24.4% year-on-year, a new high during the year; a total of nearly 468,000 vehicles were delivered in the first half of the year, an increase of 28.4% year-on-year. The six-seat luxury SUV Model Y L led by China is being launched in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and other markets around the world. In the second half of 2026, Tesla continued to promote infrastructure and AI software construction, laying the foundation for accelerating demand for electric vehicles, Tesla's driverless ride-hailing service, and the launch of humanoid robots. During the earnings call, Musk said, “We are massively expanding our manufacturing capabilities for advanced infrastructure, and we believe this will be unprecedented." Tesla Cybercab driverless electric vehicle Cybercab has been put into production at the Texas Gigafactory, Tesla's driverless ride-hailing service has continued to expand, and has now been launched in seven major cities in the United States. Tesla is increasing 4680 cell production to support Tesla Cybercab driverless electric vehicles, Tesla electric truck Semi capacity climbing, and Model Y production increase; Tesla electric truck Semi will start mass production at a new plant in Nevada as planned this year; the Fremont plant will start construction of a Tesla humanoid robot production line with a planned annual production capacity of 1 million units, scheduled to be put into production later this year. The first Tesla humanoid robots will be used to collect training data and further develop new functions. Tesla is preparing a second production line for robots at the Texas Gigafactory. The long-term design has an annual production capacity of 10 million units and is expected to be put into production around next summer. In terms of assisted driving, net new subscriptions reached a record high in the second quarter, with 1.48 million paid subscribers worldwide, a record high selection rate of assisted driving in North America, and more than half of new vehicles were subscribed to assisted driving at the time of delivery and approved in the Lithuanian, Estonian, Danish and Belgian markets; as of July, customers in these countries have accumulated more than 50 million kilometers using assisted driving. The design of the next-generation AI 5 inference processor chip has been completed, which will be mainly used in humanoid robots and data centers. Because AI 4 hardware has been able to achieve unsupervised versions of autonomous driving far beyond the level of human safety, there is currently no urgent need for AI 5 to enter in-vehicle systems. Musk called the AI 5 chip "the best AI inference chip in the field of edge computing at present" and revealed that it has accumulated strong momentum for the design work of AI 6. In the second quarter of 2026, Tesla added 2,700 super charging piles worldwide, and the size of the supercharging network increased by 17% year-on-year, exceeding 82,000 cumulatively, of which more than 13,000 were built and opened in mainland China. The output of the Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory reached a record high, driving the installed capacity of energy storage in the EMEA market to a record high; the Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory continues to promote capacity climbing.
